CMG Freelancers are a diverse group of self-employed workers from Canada and overseas. Some are long time members of the Guild through their contributions to CBC / Radio Canada. Many are consultants, professionals, creators, storytellers, community builders, technicians and craftspeople that work with multiple engagers or clients.
Freelancers are voluntarily choosing to join the union.
As freelance workers, the autonomy of our work, the creative process of our crafts, and the adaptability of our professional expertise are key to who we are. We bring these individual strengths to our collective participation in CMG, and in turn we find and create space to address our common needs and advance our collective interests.
As freelance union members we believe this balance between our independent work, professional collaboration, and collective action will be key to creating sustainable livelihoods, and sustainable sectors of work for both self-employed and employed workers alike.
We invite you to join us, work with us and engage us!
